With the MCU's new project The Eternals (2021), releasing on November 5, we are probably going to go in depth into the origin of the Eternals, which will also include The Celestials.
But who are the Celestials? Many people don't know, but we have seen some Celestials in previous MCU Movies. Ego, the main antagonist of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is Celestial. In Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), we got to know about the place Knowhere, which as said in the movie, is the 'Severed Head of A Deceased Celestial Avatar'. Just imagine the size of the Celestial being, if its head is that big. Even Star-Lord aka Peter Quill
is also part of Celestial. We also get a glimpse of Eson the Searcher, in Guardians of the Galaxy, who wielded the Power Stone to wipe out planets.
But how do the Celestials connect to the Eternals. Fun fact, the Celestials created the Eternals. The Celestials when roaming the Universe, came across the Human Race. They were astonished with the versatility of the human genes, began experiments, cross breeding their Celestial gene with ours, thus creating the Deviants. Deviants (Did you know that Thanos is a Deviant) were one of the first ever super powered beings. Then another Celestial, came and performed other experiments and thus he created the Eternals. Eternals were way more powerful than the Deviants.
After the Eternals were perfected, they were released on Earth to live among us with 3 major purposes :-
(i) To Protect the Celestials
(ii) To Protect the Machine, which is an AI which serves the Celestials.
(iii) To Prevent Humanity from straying away from its path.
After their creation some of the Deviants and the Eternals were relocated to Titan, the home of Thanos, and the rest of the Eternals hid in plain sight, and influenced Humanity's history since the very beginning.
The Eternals are not limited to but include the characters like :-
(a) Sersi played by Gemma Chan
(b) Ikaris played by Richard Madden
(c) Ninjo played by Kumail Nanjiani
(d) Thena played by Anjelina Jolie and many more.....
The Main Antagonist of the movie of the Movie is Kro, one of the first Deviants ever created. We will also see the Celestial Arishem, in the movie and he will probably play a rather big role in the story.
We might even get to see Titan in its prime and a young Thanos in some character flashbacks.
We will obviously see many of these plot points and the history of the MCU and the human race and how it was altered and controlled in the coming movie. We will also come to know why The Eternals did not help the Avengers in fighting Thanos. Many mysteries will be unraveled and thoroughly examined by the fans.
