#20 The History of The Timekeepers

-SPOILER WARNING FOR LOKI SERIES_

When the Loki series began and I heard about The Time-Keepers, I was very excited to know, how the MCU was going to portray these Immortal and Powerful "Space Lizards" (Quoted by Loki), but as the series progressed, I along with many others started developing a suspicion about the Time-Keepers. Something told me that they were not who everyone thought they were. And sure enough in Loki Episode 4, all is revealed and we come to know that the Time-Keepers were just androids, controlled by He Who Remains a variant of Kang The Conqueror also known by the name Immortus.

I was not satisfied with this, as it was way different than the comics. In the comics the Time-Keepers play an active role in the Comicverse and are not mere robots. This is the History of the Time-Keepers in The Comics :-

The Time-Keepers were created by He Who Remains the last director of the TVA, in the Citadel at the End of Time, just before the end of Multiversal War. There were Three Main Time-Keepers, but it is said that a fourth one was also created, but he was exiled to Egypt in around 3000 BC. When He Who Remains, was creating the Time-Keepers, he did not succeed immediately. At first he created the Time-Twisters, beings which destroyed numerous realities. But with the help of Thor, they were banished into an alternate reality.

After the Time-Keepers came into action, they recruited Immortus to help them clean the mess, left by the Variants of Immortus (Many Kangs).

The Time-Keepers also tried to break up the Avengers, when they failed, they sent Immortus, but he betrayed them and assisted the Avengers.

They also gave the job of pruning realities to Immortus.

At some point of their lives, the Time-Keepers realised the strength of the Nexus Being, The Scarlet Witch. They understood the immense threat, that she possesed and they peered through time and saw that if she had kids, it would be the end of the timeline as they know it. So they also ordered Immortus to kill her, but Immortus paved a path by which the Scarlet Witch is led into a relationship with the Vision, which ultimately avoided this future.

Due to the return of the Time-Twisters, they used Immortus and made him absorb Scarlet Witch's energy, and they also tried to kill various Nexus beings. This made Immortus rebel against them, but the Time-Keepers took care of the Time-Twisters and even defeated Immortus.

The Time-Keepers even made a portal which allowed the Watcher to view and go through alternate realities.

They had a whole story arc, where due to a character named Rick Jones, the Destiny Force is awakened in Humanity, which possesses a grave danger, even to the Time-Keepers. They have a showdown with Rick, where he summons the Avengers to protect him and the Time-Keepers summon "Evil" Avengers to fight back. As the fight ensued, Kang made a return, and we come to know that he had resisted the transformation of Time-Keepers eons ago So Immortus is split into Two, One part is Kang and the other is Immortus. Kang escapes and then kills the Time-Keepers.

So this was the history of the Time-Keepers. A vast and eventful one. It is very interesting and has some spectacular events. That's all.
