#9 Theory Takeover: Where did Aragorn come from??

Updated: Jan 27, 2021

No, I am not talking about King Aragorn from The Lord of The Rings. In fact, I am talking about the MCU's Aragorn aka Pegasus, Valkyrie's (Tessa Thompson) winged horse. We see the winged beast briefly in Thor: Ragnarok and in the legendary battle of Avengers: Endgame, but what we don't see is how Valkyrie gets back her friend, who was presumed dead after the battle between Hela and the Valkyries.

Presenting Theory Takeover, where we try to answer all the unexplained mysteries and the burning questions of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This is the first part of this series and in the due course of time there we will be many more to come.

Getting back to our question, how did the horse get back to its rider?

I have had this question since I watched Endgame. After pondering on it, for a long time, I have narrowed it down to three theories.

(i) Valkyries can turn any horse into a Valkyrie Steed

This is the most basic theory. Taking inspiration directly from the comics, we can imagine that Valkyrie after having settled on New Asgard turned any ordinary horse into a valkyrie steed.

With Asgard having a rich history of ancient magic, sorcery, and miraculous practices, I don't think it would be an exaggeration to say that Valkyrie herself may know a thing or two about magic.

After their battle with Hela, all the valkyries except Brunnhilde died. On account of the trauma of that disastrous battle, Valkyrie left Asgard and went to Sakaar.

With no member of the valkyries left alive on Asgard, it led to the decline of the faction, and consequently, the Asgardians forgot that the Valkyries even existed.

Taking into account all the experiences of Valkyrie, we don't much about her in the MCU. Thus she may be hiding her powers, even from Thor and this could play a role in the upcoming Thor film Thor: Love and Thunder.

(ii) An Unbreakable bond between the Steed and It's Master

Relying on Valkyrie's unknown past and the wonders of Asgard, an interesting way to go about the question asked above is that Aragorn is an Asgardian summoning.

There is a mystical bond between them As long as the rider is alive, till that time horse will also be alive. Their heartbeats are interlinked.

That's why, as per her wishes, Valkyrie can call Aragorn whenever she requires help.

This is the most fun theory, for this dilemma as it provides another wonderful look at the wonders of Asgard and the marvel of the MCU.

(iii) Aragorn was at Sakaar the whole time?

Ok this may sound a little absurd but according to this, when Valkyrie first arrived on Sakaar, she was with Aragorn. But then they were captured and both were implanted with the taser devices as shown in Thor: Ragnarok. To gain freedom, Valkyrie started working for The Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) and this continued until Thor arrived.

When the revolution of Sakaar was going on, Valkyrie might have rescued Aragorn too who we are then able to see later.

This theory perfectly agrees with the MCU timeline and also shows the emotional side of the character. If this theory is true then it would be a big surprise.
